5-29-15 Elise nka Bentley has a pending adoption.

8-12-17 Fur Elise, who is deaf, comes back into rescue after 2 years adopted. She is now 4 years old, and is in good physical shape. She was turned back in for not being able to walk on a leash in public and in the past few weeks her going after people behind a fence or half wall or baby gate. The owner said that Elise was redirecting on her while leash walking and we observed Elise pulling the owner. After the owner left, I took her for a walk and had my husband come up behind us and role play. At first Elise was afraid, and would just move behind me. (Good choice) Then, she would walk in between us, then I handed the leash over to him. In my opinion she was afraid at first, then learned /relaxed and did very well after that. I think that Elise is a good girl, and stopping walking her is not the answer to her learning how to handle things properly. I do think the fence phobia is able to be worked with and she can learn that people are not out to hurt her by reaching over the fence. (I feel it is rude for people to do that anyways.) Elise needs to put her trust in her new owner that the owner has it covered, and she doesn't need to defend anyone because the owner has it covered. Elise LOVES to play with toys. She is crate trained, and feels safe in a crate. Keeping an open door crate would help her feel she has a safe spot. Elise will still require a fenced in yard, and ACD experience.

8-1-14 Fur Elise, who is deaf, comes into rescue, as an owner surrender. Her family moved from a western state where they had a fenced yard to Michigan property where there is no fencing and are close to a highway. The reason given on the surrender form: "Overwhelmed by training". For her safety, they decided to find a place, starting with shelters. Luckily, for her, the shelters were full. (A shelter is not a place for her)

She is 14 months old (May 2013) and a slender girl around 35 pounds. She came in without a collar on her, and was just let out of her crate. First order of business, a slip leash, and walking on the leash. While the owner was here, Elise spied a cat in the yard, and when I turned her away from the cat, she reached over to grab my knee. She didn't follow through, but she tried because I wouldn't let her have her own way. It's okay, she will learn the difference.

She has lived with a 12 year old ACD (and that dog got to stay, supposedly), but has not been dog socialized beyond this. When the time is right, we will get her meeting some dogs. She has good eye contact with her owners hands, I noticed.
