4-12-14 Private Adoption
2-1-14 Dewey will have a vet consultation, along with updating her vaccinations and heartworm testing. (2-1-14 The vet has put her on medication, and that can be discussed privately.) Dewey is around 8 years old.
Dewey, who is deaf, returns to rescue on Friday, January 31st, after the passing of her adopter, earlier this month. Dewey has been through a lot this month, which will be discussed privately.
1-31-14 Dewey returns, with the help of a "good man", and is adjusting well. Even though she was shaking a bit, she was still friendly with everyone. I am so proud of her, doing her best. She even liked our cat Tiger who was sitting in the chair like a king. She did well with meeting Gator and Ivan who will be her kennel mates, for now. (She got into Ivan's crate with him, also.)
7-18-08 Miss Dewey is deaf, but such a good girl, you wouldn't know it. She appears to be an adult with nice speckling, full tail, and sweet as can be. She is friendly to everyone she meets, and seems to be good around other dogs once she knows they won't hurt her. Dewey is adjusting to new situations with a good attitude, and we are pleased with her progress. We are working at getting her to give us good eye contact so we can communicate with her. She is doing well with house training as we do the 'happy dance' when she does her business outside. This makes her very proud and we know this because she runs in circles and smiles at us. We are happy to say that we think she's 'getting it'. Dewey would be good in any home as she requires only a bit more patience because she's deaf. But knowing how sweet she is, it's easy to give to her. She really deserves someone she can bond very closely with...or maybe even do work as a service dog! She is tiny and gentle and has love to give to everyone she meets. Dewey is very good with other dogs that we've met and learns well by watching everyone else. But Dewey is special too. She was the ONE dog in the pack to try and get a very frightened visiting pup to come out of his crate and play. She climbed right in with him and nibbled his ear and kissed his face until he relaxed!
