“Trident” to Remus, MI 4-24-17
4-24-17 Trident comes into rescue with Momma Mia and the two pups are around 8 months old. From what we were told these 3 are related. There were also two breeder adults and 3 small pups. They were living in a dirty pig pen (literally) and the owner was no longer able to care for them, which turned out to be a blessing.
These three are together here (for now) while we get the pups learning what collars and leashes are. They don’t seem to have social skills and are very wary of people. The Mom dog is showing them that people are not going to be “catching” them and scaring them here. They are a work in progress, so ACD experience will be what we are looking for in an application.
As we come up on their 5 year Anniversary of coming here, Trident remains the last one of the original eight. He has always been with other dogs, and an outside dog. He will require a fenced area with access to an overnight heated area, as he has here. He won’t become a cuddly lap dog but does deserve to have a caring family. Please consider him if you are looking for a shy but easy keeper.
“Senior Theia”
4-24-17 Theia comes into rescue with Titan and 3 young pups. There were also two breeder adults and 3 small pups. They were living in a dirty pig pen (literally) and the owner was no longer able to care for them, which turned out to be a blessing.
These two are together here (for now) while we get them learning what collars and leashes are. They don’t seem to have social skills and are very wary of people. They are a work in progress, so ACD experience will be what we are looking for in an application.
AuCaDo Rescue “Zeeb” 4-24-19
4-24-19 Zeeb, who appears to be around 2+, comes into rescue, as a shelter transfer, from where he had been since the first of March 2019.
Zeeb appears to be a bit of a mix, yet acts like an ACD, so we don’t know his mix. He is very active and needs mental as well as physical stimulation.
The shelter didn’t understand that activity levels are not all that uncommon, and needs to have an outlet. The previous shelter decided that he was not able to be with families where there were children under 18.
He likes certain toys and likes to interact, which he gets to do if he earns it.
He can be grabby of things, so we are working on that.
He can be food aggressive, which he came here with. (However, we feed all in crates and privately, and is a non-issue here.)
He has already shown that he wants to please. He follows me everywhere I go, (here).
He is going to be a loyal companion for someone, who understands how he thinks and can set him up for success.
Adopted! “Sr Harvest Moon”
3-2-20 Harvest Moon comes into rescue as a shelter transfer. Her paperwork shows she is at least 6 years old. She was in the same shelter in 2015.
She has some fear aggression that shows behind a barrier. She makes good strides every day, and we are happy with her trying to be good.
The first day out in the exercise yard, she hid in the back corner, so we are sure it is just a fear response.
3-8-20 Today, there was no barking at the fence. Even when she barked before, if we went into her place, she is not following through, and just acts silly.
We see that she was “drugged” when she arrived, and in our experience, this makes these dogs show “aggression”.
I wish I could stop this trend with shelter dogs being drugged.
We are looking for a quiet companion and home for an adopter who has patience to help her relax in her golden years.
Her adoption fee is for a Senior, since we do not know her true age.
She has had a recent dental, as she had infected teeth and gums. (She is still on soft food)
“Sr Dolly Oakley” (Mix) (HW+/-)
8-8-21 Back at AuCaDo Rescue
8-4-21 Detroit Animal Control
11-20-20 Adopted
5-28-20 Ms Dolly Oakley comes into rescue as a shelter transfer, where she was taken by law enforcement after her owner passed away.
She is around 46 pounds, and is started on her HW treatment with Doxycycline.
The shelter guesses her age at 5, and we are guessing 5–7 years of age.
She does try to be barrier aggressive, which is not surprising, given her circumstances.
She will have lots of time to work on trust again, during her long treatment(s).
Adopted “Trout”
12-26-19 Trout, best guess is Catahoula Leopard Dog x Australian Shepherd, and came into rescue for long term boarding while the owner was in New Zealand. The plan was for him to stay until 6-26-20 and then join his owner in New Zealand. Since Co-Vid19 had other plans, the owner is not able to come back to the USA and then re-enter New Zealand. Since it is an unknown, at this time, the owner decided to surrender Trout with the hopes of his finding a new home.
Trout is a good boy, around 3 years old. He can be picky to his dog friends, his friend here is Harvest Moon.
Trout can start out stand offish, but does come around, and he will invite you for a game of fetch.
